At roughly 5:34 pm, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews responded to a residential structure fire on Gamay Drive in Oakley. Crews arrived to a single story residential structure with a well involved exterior fire on the side of the house. Crews were on scene for nearly 2-hours and 30-minutes.

About 15 minutes earlier, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District arrived to a home on Hilliard Cir in Antioch where a side yard also caught fire where crews arrived to a fully engulfed fence. It was being reported that a neighbor saw the fire and quickly called 9-1-1 while beginning to spray water on the area to keep it wet and from spreading to the home.

Finally, at about 10:14 am Sunday morning, crews battled a vegetation fire in the Fulton Shipyard due to a homeless camp. While the cause is not yet official, it appears to be a case of a Styrofoam and gas combination which caused vegetation nearby to catch on fire where a homeless group has set up camp–the county is aware of this camp, but has not yet removed them from that location.

These were just some of the fires, they also responded to several auto accidents and medical calls. There was also a few incidents in Pittsburg and Bay Point which we did not include.
