The Morgan Territory Fire that has spread to Mt. Diablo has grown to more than 3,718 acres and is still just 20% contained according to CALFIRES David Shew. Roughly 700 firefighters are battling the blaze and some have been on site for 24-hours already.

At roughly 2:30, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District announced crews are being demobilized from the Morgan territory Fire and being sent home long with other Contra Costa units. CALFIRE will be taking over command to handle the fire.

Steve Aubert, CONFIRE Public Information Officer,  confirmed the fires size has spread to 3,718 and that CONFIRE is also demobilizing. They are bringing their guys off the mountain to begin working calls in their district as CALFIRE crews and resources are going up the mountain to take over.

The fire was originally reported as just  a 1/2 acre spot fire with slow spread at roughly at 1:07 pm Sunday afternoon. The fire has since forced about 100 homes to be evacuated.
