July 4 Overview: Firefighters in East County Respond to Two-Dozen Fire Related Calls

On July 4, during a 4-hour period, firefighters in East Contra Costa County ran more than two-dozen fire related calls between Bay Point to Discovery Bay.

Firefighters from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District were hopping from call-to-call for reported  outside fires, vegetation fires, to residential fires.

On DiMaggio Way in Antioch where an outside fire turned into a tree on fire which caught a car on fire followed by a house at roughly 9:13 pm. They were able to get the fire under control with three engines.

By 11:30, a two-alarm fire in Brentwood at a Senior Living Community on Sycamore Ave which required nearly 30 firefighters on the call. Ultimately, they limited damage to the entire facility, however, seven people were displaced.
