BYRON, Calif. – Traffic on Byron Highway was heavily congested for one and a half hours as CHP – Contra Costa and East Contra Costa County Fire Department personnel aided the injured parties involved in a head-on traffic collision that occurred at 6:49 Tuesday morning.
According to CHP, a female driver from Tracy was traveling on Byron Highway near N. Bruns Way in a silver Chrysler 300 when it collided with a Ford Windstar minivan being driven by a male from Oakland.
Both drivers were transported to Sutter Hospital in Tracy with major injuries.
Two male passengers in the minivan were also transported to Sutter Hospital in Tracy with minor injuries.
The investigation into the cause of this crash has yet to be determined and is still in its preliminary stages. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to please call CHP – Contra Costa at 925.646.4980 to provide additional information.
Both Alameda County fire and Tracy fire were also on scene with ECCFPD Engines 59, 52, Battalion Chief 5.
