Editorial: Mayor Says Brentwood Enters 2015 With Optimism

by ECT

The following editorial was submitted by Brentwood Mayor Bob Taylor about 2015 is set to begin with great optimism for the City.

Residents of Brentwood:

As the year of 2015 is upon the City, it is good to inform you that we enter with optimism. We have a new City Manager beginning in February. Construction of the eBART extension to Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch continues. The plans for the Highway 4 bridge over Balfour Road are almost complete. We have managed to keep our eleven million dollar reserve, to keep us stable financially.

The City Council still holds public safety as one of our most high priorities. Our Police Department is fully staffed. We appreciate and applaud the job they do on an everyday basis. They are a highly qualified staff that do their jobs keeping Brentwood residents and families safe and secure. We are in the process of establishing our own dispatch center which will require careful, strategic planning for implementation.

The City has just completed the general plan which will help guide our growth and prosperity for the next ten years. Your Mayor and City Council continue to remain committed to the residents of Brentwood in all aspects of regular city business. It is the intent of City Council to keep Brentwood in the forefront of East County as a safe place to live and raise our families.

The Mayor looks forward to another year of accomplishments and gains as our city continues to grow and prosper. Most of all, I wish to thank all residents who reside in this wonderful city. Your trust and commitments truly make Brentwood a great place to reside.

See that Antioch, a fully staffed police force! Take notes.

I love that a Mayor or elected official writes an editorial and its posted on this page. Wish more would do the same so we know what is going on.

Jim, do you really think Mr. Harper would have anything intelligent to say?

I love that Mayor Taylor doesn’t take himself too seriously…He wears a turkey suit every year for charity. In Oakley we get stuck with the likes of Randy Pope. He didn’t do anything other than take a free trip to China.

Klutz, You’re actually right for once, no one should take Bob Taylor seriously. The fact is no one does. Only in Brentwood and in fictitious “Hazard County” will you find “Boss Hog” playing the role of Mayor.

This guy is nothing more than a cartoon character who actually believes he is running the city. The truth is, many people run the city, in spite of Bob Taylor.

It is hysterical to listen to him talk about himself in the third person. Hate to break it you but “the Mayor” as he calls himself, is the laughing stock of east county politics.

Gee, thanks, I think. I’ve never met Da Mayor…I can just go by what I’ve read in what passes for newspapers out here.

I guess I’d almost prefer a known clown to the Oakley City Council which doesn’t seem to do anything worth doing…like holding our City Jester, Bryan Montgomery responsible for anything.
