Assemblyman Frazier’s Senior Scam Stopper Event Offers Tips to Fight Fraud

by ECT

Assemblyman Jim Frazier hosted a Senior Scam Stopper event yesterday at the Brentwood Senior Center where a panel of experts shared stories, tips, and potential responses if you are a victim of fraud.

Topics included:

  • Financial Fraud
  • Telephone Fraud
  • Health Care Fraud
  • Home Repair Fraud
  • Identity Theft
  • Mail Fraud

Experts also made themselves available to answer questions and offer assistance to seniors who may have been scammed. From what it sounds like, they will be scheduling a second event in Antioch in the coming months.

Below is a link to a YouTube video we shot which offers tips and information about crime from Brentwood Police Detective Thompson in this 12-minute video. For example, when on a cellphone and dialing 9-1-1 it will go to Sacramento. He encourages you to instead call local dispatch at (925) 778-2441 which could cut off as much as 10-minutes in a response time.
