Antioch: Firefighters Limit Vegetation Fire to 2-Acres off Hillcrest

by ECT

At roughly 5:38 pm Thursday evening, firefighters responded to a vegetation fire off Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch behind the PG&E building on Sunset Dr.

As the fire broke, a giant smoke cloud was being reported as far away as the Knightsen Station. Crews quickly had the fire under control, but were forced to stay on scene for nearly 3-hours due to the location and dry conditions.

Crews were able to make access to the fire via a dirt road adjacent to the railroad tracks. Engine 93 out of Oakley made an assist on this fire.

Here are a few photographs of the fire where crews did a great job in preventing it from reaching any homes.
