From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. today, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and its community partners will hold a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, operating collection sites at multiple locations throughout East County where local residents can turn in their unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications.
Last September, 244 tons of prescription drugs at over 5,200 sites operated by the DEA and its thousands of state and local law enforcement partners were turned in by citizens. In its five previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners took in over 2 million pounds of pills.
The service is free and anonymous – no questions asked.
