Sheriff: Antioch Man Arrested in Connection With Bay Point Homicide

Detectives from the Homicide Unit of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division have arrested a suspect in connection with the killing of Paul Chambers.

On Thursday at about 12 PM, the Antioch Police Department assisted detectives with the arrest of 19-year-old Khalil Hardy of Antioch. The arrest took place on the 1700 block of F street. Earlier, the detectives secured an arrest warrant for Hardy.

Last Friday, August 8, 2014, at about 10:30 PM, Office of the Sheriff dispatch received a call of shots fired on the 2200 block of Placer Drive in Bay Point.

When Deputy Sheriffs arrived, they found 25-year-old Chambers of Bay Point laying in the doorway of a residence. He was suffering from a gunshot wound. Chambers was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Concord where he was pronounced deceased.

Hardy was booked yesterday evening into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. He was booked on one count of murder.
