Contra Costa Animal Services

At 8:21 am Wednesday, emergency crews responded to a dog bite near O’Hara Park Middle School in Oakley where a women and her dog were attacked by two Pit bulls.

The women and her dog were playing near the school when two Pit Bulls attacked a Poodle. The woman was apparently bit while trying to break up the fight.

According to Rick Golphin, Deputy Director Contra Costa County Animal Services, none of the dogs were on effective control at the time of the attack.

Contra Costa County Animal Control, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, AMR and Oakley Police all responded.

Golphin explained that two Pit bulls were impounded on scene, one for Rabies quarantine and one for investigation on Potentially Dangerous Animal designation based upon the seriousness of injury to another domestic animal.

The incident is still under investigation and one or both may be returned to the owner shortly, depending on the results explained Golphin.

“Information from this case indicates that dogs off leash are a common occurrence at this park.  We will increase our presence in the area over the next few weeks,” said Golphin.

This is exactly why I do not walk my dog in certain Oakley parks. People do not put their dogs on a leash. I think the City Council instead of worrying about vehicle parking need to create a fine for dogs off leashes or increase whatever current punishment there is. Hope the woman and her poodle are okay.

If this was not a pitt bull would you still write about it?

Well, I can’t remember the last time I read about a Golden Retriever or a Bassett Hound viciously attacking another domestic pet in a park. This is the second time today that Ive seen something in the news about pit bull attacks. Lets face it, they’re not exactly stable dogs.

Yes they wrote about a lab or golden retriever that attacked someone last week or so.

A majority of the time a Pitbull attack is going to make the news. When a Pitbull attacks it is extremely more life threatening to who they attack than most other dog types regardless of the frequency of the attacks made by other dogs. Nothing against Pitbulls or Rottweilers but this is fact. They are like a loaded gun in the care of some people.

The city of Oakley needs to set aside some space for a dog park. Hard telling if that would have prevented this attack, but it sure would have given that lady a more controlled environment to allow her dog to run around. Off-leash dogs are a big problem in Oakley and an appropriate place for them to be could go a long way toward fixing that problem.

It’s the owners. These young macho men get them, beef them up, put chokers on them, & handle the dogs like a weapon because they are criminals themselves. The dogs are being used & portrayed in a manner that is unfair abusive treatment. How about we put some ppl on chokers, beef them up with steriods & lets see how pissed off they act. Quit blamming the animal. Any animal can be viscous. We live in a society full of excons, gangs, thugs, idiot parents who lets there macho boys have these dogs. What do you expect? Now we have a breed of dogs treating people the way people treated them. Drive down any ECC street and you can see a ECC young male walking a pitbull on a choker yanking its chain because he can’t handle the dog. Dogs don’t take commands from non alpha’s. Boys aren’t old enough to be alpha’s to a dog. ECC is full of genius parents giving their youngens dogs they can’t handle so they can end up euthenized or back in the pound. Say NO to Back Yard Breeders!

You will now suffer 100% villification for your fact based anti-dog views… here come the “dogs are more important than people” crowd now to lynch you.

What about the dog that attacked the 3 year old boy in his front yard. oh wait it wasn’t a pitbull so the title of the story was Family cat saves boy from dog attack.

Hey Oakley dog lovers, if you want to live in a community where the city council upholds dog rights over human life, come move to Antioch.

Here, citizens come second to dogs. We have the most ass backwards way of logic in Antioch. Let’s say one of your pittbulls gets loose and attacks an innocent pedestrian and during that attack your dog suffered damage to its teeth. Here in Antioch, you can sue the stupid pedestrian! Amazing isn’t it?

We have shootings in Antioch every day, but don’t worry about what you read on ECT or the Herald. Our competent mayor said “Things are getting better”, which means the crimes you read about never actually happened.

Most renters in Antioch don’t even have to work because the government provides for food and the rent! Imagine living next to someone who has it so good, they can watch over your home and valuable items while you work a 9-5. Afterall, someone who gets monthly subsidies because they can’t provide for themselves, must be absolutely trustworthy.

Go ahead and put up with pittbull attacks, Oakley. Go ahead and up with landlords renting their homes to thugs, scumbags, ex-cons, and meth heads. In a couple of years you will be just like Antioch.

Then we can join both cities to become the nation’s largest city of pittbull, ex-cons, and criminal population.

What a wonderful place where you can get free money to buy and feed dangerous dogs. Free housing, free food, free credit cards all from working people to give you. If you are assistance there should be no dogs, no cigarettes, no cell phones, no drugs, no booze, and no new babies. These scumbags do not need so much assistance if they can afford all the above on the peoples gracious gift to them. We are paying to sustain dirtbags when we should be forcing them to be productive in society.

What about the dog who attacked the 3 year old boy infront of his house, oh wait it wasn’t a pitbull so you would know about it. The title of the story was Family Cat saves boy from dog attack. The focus needs to be on the owners of theses animals not the breed. All breeds are ANIMALS and animals are unpredictable.

Labrador-Chow mix. Labs are stupid, and Chows are usually in the Top 10 Lists for most dangerous dogs. This makes sense, stupid half of the dog is fearful of a cat, aggressive half attacks a little boy. People like you that run incessantly to the defense of dangerous and vicious breeds crack me up, you always place the dog above humans. No sense trying to convince you, and I’m guessing you have more dogs than friends anyway.

Anyone who has a dog in the top 10 most vicious list should have to carry a million dollar insurance rider, but, if you want that dog, go ahead.

We are getting away from the problem, dogs that are not on leashes. I believe there is a California Leash law that is not upholder. This is what makes walking our dogs more stressful than it needs to be.
