Oakley: Garbage Truck Accident Shuts Down Main Street Monday

At 8:22 am Monday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a vehicle versus garbage truck on Main Street at Gardenia in Oakley which shut down Main Street in the westbound direction at Vintage Parkway.

Upon arrival, Engine 93 found the garbage truck leaking both diesel and hydraulic fluid. Crews quickly contacted Contra Costa County Hazmat who supervised the garbage company cleaning up the spill.

According to Chief Hugh Henderson,  it was estimated 10-15 gallons of diesel leaked and recovered with buckets and absorbent. The hydraulic fluid was estimated at 25-30 gallons which was mostly recovered with buckets and absorbent. Crews were on scene for nearly 1 hours and 40 minutes.
