My wife & I love CA for many reasons. But costs are rising, not only financial but traffic, congestion, and general daily hassels. We are seriously thinking of moving out, will likely remain in the western US.

Lazy K Oct 30, 2019 - 12:52 pm

Yes. I plan on moving once I retire within five years.

Nancy Oct 30, 2019 - 1:37 pm

Yes, moving next year to AZ.

Frank Oct 30, 2019 - 2:31 pm

Oh hell yes!!! Time to leave this over taxed, unsafe and democrat run swamp they call California.

Mary Jo Oct 31, 2019 - 8:08 am

“Swamp” hahahahaha dude the swamp started on Wall Street, which is in New York, which is where your boy Trump is from and in his blood. Wake up and realize the real enemy.

Rose Nov 1, 2019 - 12:15 am

You’re gonna be crappin’ little green apples when Trump is reelected.

TSG Oct 30, 2019 - 2:45 pm

Yes, I wish I could leave right away. Too much lunatic politics is making it too expensive and crime keeps rising.

Laura Bambini Oct 30, 2019 - 6:45 pm

Have you thought about just making more money? Then you’ll live in a safer area.

Richard Ryan Oct 31, 2019 - 1:35 pm

With me and many others, it’s not a money question. The fires, the drought, traffic congestion, overcrowding everywhere and crime in every community which are the problems. Most of my relatives and friends have already moved out of CA and headed for WA and OR … where there is more rain.

SCH Oct 31, 2019 - 2:28 pm

I live in a very safe place, but can’t stay in the house 24/7. Have to get out to go to work, shopping, appointments … and be exposed to the criminal element at my destination. So that doesn’t wash. It’s the overcrowding, traffic congestion, demographics and crime which is the downer. I like Texas and Wyoming so I’m thinking of seriously moving there. Texas has a coastline.

Diana Sands Nov 1, 2019 - 12:24 am

You mean one should never get out of their house in this “safer” area? I know people living in Blackhawk who were mugged outside of their guard-gated enclosures.

Bye!!! Oct 30, 2019 - 5:30 pm

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass folks. Bye. Why you waiting ? Oh because California has what you need and the state of your dreams doesn’t.

Brian Evans Oct 30, 2019 - 11:26 pm

California used to have what we needed, but that’s gone. We pay HUGE taxes and when the taxpayers leave, you’ll go from dollars-to-donuts. I’m leaving for Hawaii.

Amanda Bradley Oct 31, 2019 - 7:12 am

The most expensive state in the union! Makes sense!

Catherine Oct 31, 2019 - 1:27 pm

Maybe it’s not a money issue, Amanda. There are other reasons people move to Hawaii, America’s paradise. Not everyone is poor as a church mouse. Even think of that? I’m checking out real estate on K’auai, about the mos beautiful tropical place on earth.

Max Nov 1, 2019 - 12:28 am

I like Kauai but also Lanai and Molokai because they are the old, undisturbed Hawaii. Not big on Oahu because those high-rises remind me of New York. I wish Hawaii would have been spared such atrocities and left like it as before it became a state.

Left in August and my quality of life sky rocketed. Taxes, politics, crime, traffic, fires, drought, mudslides, earthquakes – no place to raise a family.

Jake Oct 30, 2019 - 7:52 pm

I moved my family out of California for many reasons. It is the most unsafe state besides Chicago area. California schools do not teach children the true facts of life. Cost of living is ridiculous. The current political administration is the terror that has driven California to its demise while the citizens sit back and believe there lies and continue to pay into there bucket while vets are homeless and hungry to feed those who are here illegally. There is a process to follow and California has fallen. It is the most depressed state in our nation and everyone is offended by everything. It’s gotten so out of hand. Plus California is broke can’t pay its own bills so it raises taxes on the citizens to pay for laws the administration politicians for those who hate our country instead of those who laid there lives down for our country. The only way out of the pit California has dug is to regain its once morals and values and recognize that God is the only true God who loves us and is a perfect father…

There: a place
Their: belongs to someone.

Hank Oct 31, 2019 - 8:06 am

Jake, veterans being treated that way is a federal issue (the VA), not a state issue. Are you mad kids aren’t taught science in school and not from your outdated superstitious text AKA the Bible? And California is not broke, we have a higher GDP than many developed nations. Sounds like you need to move to the south with simple minded bible thumpers who are stuck in the 1950’s.

Dana Roach Oct 31, 2019 - 8:52 pm

With an honorable discharge Veterans have ever opportunity to thrive. The only helpless homeless vet is a lazy one.

Kris Nov 6, 2019 - 8:18 am

AMEN

D-Man Oct 30, 2019 - 8:44 pm

Good get the hell out of here!!!! Poor ass mother fuckers can’t move because y’all have no jobs. Get the fuck gone

Norton Oct 31, 2019 - 2:30 pm

so? Who needs a job? I’m living off my investments!

Rosemary Wells Oct 31, 2019 - 1:30 pm

I also like IDAHO … gorgeous scenery … great people .. four gorgeous seasons ….. great lakes …coastal Texas looks good as well.

Lola Saavedra Oct 31, 2019 - 2:31 pm

I just love, love, LOVE Hawaii — Maui, K’auai even Molokai. Paradise personified!

Sad Sad State Oct 31, 2019 - 5:16 pm

All the shit talkers on here don’t realize that the majority of folks leaving are who we need. “Need” meaning, hard working tax payers who are no longer, “Happy”. Keep tough talking and watch how amazing your dumbass comments are when you and I are left to fill their voids.

This state has been on a destructive path for many years as well as both sides, Dems and Rep all are screwing things up. If you have half a brain you would realize both have great ideas but are too stupid to sit down at the table to get stuff done.

I believe in very few things which have allowed me to live a decent life style. Work hard, take care of family and friends, accountability and treat others with respect. Hasn’t failed me yet, not anywhere, ever.

Let’s work on real world topics rather than spending millions banning straws, enough said. I hate where California has gone but love it too much to leave. Logistics of a big move for myself and family is far harder than staying put and doing our “own thing”.

Support accountability and respect….

Most of California has become a ghetto.

Mark T. Oct 31, 2019 - 6:06 pm

Next year, my wife and I become residents of Nevada. We were both born and raised here and we raised our family here. However, after retirement, the traffic, the crime, the absolutely insane fees, taxes and other govt actions taken in Sacramento have convinced us that, while we love California, we can no longer afford to live here without working more. After 45 years of work, we are both tired, but we are not about to watch the state take what’s left. Sad to say, but we are out of here in three months…

Martin Nov 1, 2019 - 12:19 am

California used to be just great, but it has really slid downward. I would move just for the politics alone which have turned this state into shambles. I don’t care about the taxes or anything else. Texas is looking mighty good and that’s where most of my relatives have moved to.

Richard Nov 1, 2019 - 2:06 am

The taxpayers re moving out and the downtrodden are moving in hoping for a handout from the state, which is now running out of tax dollars thanks to those who re leaving. CALPERS is broke! There go your pensions!

Sahara Nov 1, 2019 - 9:25 pm

Yep, we are leaving. Too expensive here, we can’t retire comfortably, too crowded, too much traffic, and laws don’t match our beliefs anymore.

Bill Waite Nov 2, 2019 - 1:35 am

I’m getting ready to put all my properties on the market (both residential and commercial) and looking at western Washington State — north of Seattle, close to the Canadian border. A lush area full of rain and clean air and no traffic problems. Houses on large lots so you don’t hear your neighbor flushing the toilet. The San Juan Islands (Friday Harbor) are very attractive with great ferry service to the mainland or chopper, if you prefer. Great boating, too.
