Frazier Profile

Rio Vista, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) invites you to join him on Saturday, June 15th at the “Catch A Special Thrill (C.A.S.T) for Kids event” at Brannan Island State Recreation Area in Rio Vista.

This free event provides one day of fishing on a boat, onshore activities, and a BBQ lunch for children with disabilities between the ages of seven and seventeen. The event is designed to expose kids to the sport of fishing, an enjoyment of the outdoors, provide education about fish in the Delta, and to increase the awareness of all participants, parents, sportsmen, and volunteers to the capabilities of children with disabilities.

Children will be supplied with a fishing rod and reel, t-shirt, hat, tackle box, and a commemorative plaque. Participants will be partnered with an experienced angler and, with the supervision of a parent or guardian, they will be shown proper fishing techniques and receive natural resources education. Participants and volunteers will later return from their morning fishing excursion to a BBQ lunch and an awards ceremony.
