On Sunday January 18 at about 8:49 AM, Contra Costa Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to a report of body found in the waters off Mallard Island near Bay Point.
The body was discovered in a marsh by people fishing in the area. The body was decomposed and it is unknown how long the body was in the water. The identity is unknown.
The Office of the Sheriff Marine Patrol Unit recovered the body and transferred the body to the Coroner’s Division for identification and investigation into the cause of death.
