Bay Point: 12 Year Old Boy Shot on Weldon Street

Just before 9 pm Wednesday, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of shots fired on Weldon street in Bay Point. Deputies arrived on scene and found 12 year old shooting victim in front of an apartment. Victim was taken to Children’s Hospital in Oakland by helicopter. Active investigation at this time. No suspects have been identified at this time.

According to Jimmy Lee, spokesman for the Contra Costa County  Office of the Sheriff, more information will be made available later this morning.

Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division are continuing to investigate a shooting in Bay Point.

On Wednesday at about 8:53 PM, Muir Station Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of shots fired with a subject down on the 1000 block of Weldon Street in Bay Point.  Deputies arrived on scene and found a 12-year-old shooting victim in front of an apartment.

The victim, a Bay Point resident, was flown by REACH helicopter to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. The hospital this morning said his condition is “seriously critical.”

Last night Deputy Sheriffs along with Pittsburg Police Officers searched the area for any possible suspects. None were located. No suspects have been identified and Detectives are still trying to establish the motive.
