Sacramento, CA: Today, Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) honored Lillian “Lill” Pierce on the Assembly Floor as his 2014 Woman of the Year for the 11th Assembly District.

“Receiving this award would not have been possible without the wonderful people I work with and the community who has offered their unwavering support,” said Pierce. “I feel humbled at the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of my mother, who also received this honor in 2001.”

Pierce is a fourth generation Contra Costan who has committed her personal and professional life to serving others. She has been actively involved in promoting and preserving the agricultural heritage, business interests and history in East Contra Costa County through her dedicated work in various agricultural advocacy groups and as a member of the Antioch, Brentwood and California Chambers of Commerce.

For more than three decades, Pierce has devoted a substantial amount of her time to supporting education, public health and social service programs that benefit regional, non-profit organizations in Contra Costa County. Chief among Pierce’s philanthropic efforts is her unwavering service to the Brentwood Regional Community Chest, founded by her mother Rose Pierce, in 1968. Pierce currently serves as the Board Secretary, and as a result of her hard work and dedication, has helped serve nearly 20,000 families from Brentwood, Byron, Discovery Bay, Knightsen, Oakley and Bethel Island. Today, the Community Chest provides Christmas gifts, meals and emergency services to more than 500 families annually.

Her past honors have included Grand Marshall of the 2013 Brentwood Holiday Parade and the 2004 Citizen of the Year by the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. Pierce currently serves as the Superintendent’s Secretary and Account Clerk for the Knightsen Elementary School District.

“Lill’s selfless contributions to public service speak volumes about her excellent character,” said Assemblymember Frazier. “Her lively spirit for community sets an excellent example for all to follow, and I am proud to name her as the 2014 Woman of the Year for the 11th Assembly District.”

Assemblymember Frazier honored Lillian Pierce in a ceremony this afternoon at the California State Capitol with an Assembly Resolution naming her an exemplary California woman.
