Videos: Firefighters Respond to Three Vehicles on Fire in Oakley


At 6:20 pm Friday, the East Conta Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in the 5700 block of Main Street in the City of Oakley.

While responding, it was reported that 3 vehicles had caught fire and multiple callers were reporting a giant cloud of black smoke into the air. According to the District, Pena Dismantler Auto Body & Towing were crushing 3 vehicles when they caught fire. To prevent spread of fire, the vehicles were removed from the crusher and placed in the center of the property away from other vehicles.

Engine 53 arrived on scene and limited the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported and crews were on scene for 75-minutes.

The Oakley Police Department also responded to the incident.


  1. Sounds like they may have been cutting corners. All fluids are to be removed before crushing.
