Tonight: Oakley Cityhood Celebration Begins at 6 PM

by ECT

Oakley will celebrate its 14th Birthday today at the Freedom High School Basin starting at 6:00 pm. The celebration commemorates Oakley’s incorporation as a city in 1999.

The event itself is free, however the Freedom H.S. athletic boosters will charge $5 for parking in the student parking lot (closest to the basin) with proceeds going towards athletic programs at Freedom High School. Free parking will be available along the street and in the staff parking lot.

Wristbands for unlimited attractions and rides will be available for $5 and  given to children 0-5 years of age for free. The wristbands are currently available for pre-purchase at City Hall.

Activities will include glitter tattoos, a clown making balloon animals, as well as a rock climbing wall, giant slide, obstacle courses, speed pitch, bounces houses and more. Be sure to take a ride on the newest attraction, the “mechanical shark.” Children’s activities will close at 9:00 pm in preparation for the fireworks show.

Food vendors will also be at the celebration serving up delicious food. A variety of food vendors will be on hand with pizza, tri tip sandwiches, corn dogs, sausage, curly fries, shaved ice, ice cream, fresh fruit and homemade granola.

Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the fireworks which start at around 9:30 pm.

No alcohol will be permitted at this event.
