by ECT

On Saturday June 11, Providence Bar & Eatery will be hosting a car show with proceeds going to benefit the Veterans of Oakley.

The community event beings at 10:00 am at Providence Bar and Eatery located at 2085 Main St in Oakley with multiple categories for cars such as classics, customs, and hot rods.  The event also includes food, music and raffle prizes.

Smitty Smith, Veterans of Oakley Commander, says this is a family friendly event aimed at helping veterans.

“The car show is going to have several categories. The mobile veterans center will be on hand to provide services to veterans along with a counselor for veterans in the area for those who may want to receive that resource,” said Smith. “Also attending are the Friends of Oakley, Furry Friends Food Relief along with Stonecrest Lending helping veterans with loans or finances.”

Smith was also quick to credit Providence Bar and Eatery because they approached the Veterans last year stating they wanted to do something to help and took the lead on flyers, promotions and organization.

“They are really putting on this show and turning over the proceeds to the veterans. The proceeds will go towards our dinners twice a month to help feed veterans. The proceeds will also ultimately go to a veteran’s hall which is a long term goal, but hopefully one day we can have our own space,” says Smith. “

Smith further highlighted that there will be tri-tip sandwiches and food available for purchases from Providence.

Registration is $25 at the door and begins at 8:00 am or online at www.ProvOakley.com. Registration includes one Tri-Tip Lunch (Additional lunch Is $10.

The awards begin at 2:30 with a $150 best of show prize, and $50 for each category winner.
