PG&E Venting Natural Gas Line in Oakley Friday Morning

by ECT

As part of PG&E’s ongoing improvements to their natural gas system, PG&E plans to vent natural gas from sections of a pipe in Oakley tomorrow, May 13 from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

As gas is vented at 5900 Bridgehead Road, the smell of natural gas and the sound of it venting from the pipe may be noticeable in the area depending on wind direction.

The natural gas will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and will not be harmful; however, safety is always our top priority, and we encourage anyone who has concerns about natural gas odors in or around their home or business to call 1-800-743-5000 so they can safely determine the specific cause.

Service to customers should not be interrupted during this work.

This gas safety work is part of our everyday commitment to provide safe, reliable and affordable natural gas service to our customers.

What for anyway? And is “dissipate into the atmosphere” code for a “minimal addition to the size of the ozone hole floating above Oakley”?
