At 7:22 am Sunday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters and Oakley police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train at Fairhaven Ct and Robert Way in the City of Oakley.
Upon arrival, a male was located who had been struck by a train and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Police said the man had placed all his items on the nearby tracks and sat down. As the train began to brake, the man did not move and was struck. The man was in his 40’s and from the City of Pittsburg.
BNSF is investigating the incident.
