Oakley: Three injured in Friday Night DUI Crash on Main Street

by ECT

At 7:50 pm Friday, Oakley Police and the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a traffic accident at the intersection of Big Break Road and Main Street.

Upon arrival, there were three patients with two having moderate injuries and another with minor injuries. The incident shut down the eastbound lanes of Main Street as two vehicles were heavily damaged.

A female was arrested for a felony DUI after a field test was conducted. ECT overhead the results of the breathalyzer test where the female blew a 0.16 after consent was given. The female stated to police she had last had a drink around 4:00 pm. The female also told police she had alcohol in her system, but the other car ran the red light.

The female was checked out by AMR on scene before being arrested and taken to jail.

No further information was provided on scene or has been released.

The people who were hit by the drunk driver are my sister and her companion. One is still in the hospital and expected to be released with a severe injure while the other is home now. Full recovery is expected. The drunk driver was tested and blew over twice the legal limit and arrested with no apparent injuries to their person. A big thank you to the first responders for taking care of my sister and her companion.

I’m glad they should be OK. May they have short recoveries!

They should throw the book at the drunk.
