Oakley Police Issue Crime Alert for Spike in Catalytic Converter Thefts

The City of Oakley is experiencing a spike in the theft of Catalytic Converters from parked vehicles. Most recently, several Toyota Tundra pick-up trucks have been targeted. Criminals often target pick-up trucks and sport utility vehicles for this type of theft due to the higher ride height which allows easier access to vehicle components mounted on the undercarriage.

A Catalytic Converters is an emission control device that contains precious metals that criminals can sell. Please be alerts to suspicious people or activity you observe in your neighborhood.

Call the Oakley Police non-emergency number, 925-625-8060, to report criminal or suspicious activity. Simple preventive measures to this crime include parking in a garage when possible, and parking in a well-lighted area. Thanks for your help in keeping Oakley more secure.

We would also like to make the residents of Oakley aware of crime that has been occurring since mid-December which has also seen a spike in vehicle thefts.  Since December 9, there have been 23-vehicle thefts. 5 auto burglaries and 5 grand thefts of vehicles.  Below are the locations of where the incidents have occurred.
