Oakley: Resident Thanks Firefighters for Helping 12-Year-Old Daughter

by ECT

Oakley resident Samantha Buckman has a message for East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters and that is thank you.

Last week, her 12-year-old daughter was riding her bike home from school down O’Hara Avenue in Oakley when somehow fell off her bike and hurt her knees pretty badly. As luck would have it, a fire truck drove right past her as they were returning back to the station from a previous call.

The fire truck not only stopped to make sure her daughter was okay, but one of the fire fighters walked her bike home while they put her on the fire engine and gave her a ride home.

“They made sure sure she was okay and then totally made her day and made her forget completely about her knee,” said Buckman.  “I’m not sure what your names are, or which fire fighters were working that day, but I wanted to publicly say thank you to the firefighters! You made a little girl very very happy.”
