At approximently 4:50 am Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle crash in the 2400 block E Cypress Road in the City of Oakley.
Upon arrival, Engine 53 located a two vehicle crash with 1 vehicle off the roadway and on its side. Another vehicle was in the roadway blocking eastbound traffic. One person was trapped in the vehicle requiring extrication.
A short time later, at least one person was declared deceased on scene, another others involved sustained minor injuries.
No other information has been provided as the Oakley Police Department is on scene investigating the crash.
5:40 am UPDATE Via Oakley Police Department
The Oakley Police Department is investigating a major traffic collision on East Cypress Road. East Cypress Road is shut down between Bethel Island Road and Jersey Island Road.
In order to leave the Summerlake community, or Bethel Island, you will need to take Bethel Island Road to Dutch Slough Road to Jersey Island Road which will put you back on East Cypress Road ahead of the collision investigation.
Please bear in mind Dutch Slough Road is a narrow one way street and it will be very impacted. Allow extra time for your commute this morning.
We expect the road to be shut down for upwards of another two hours.
