Oakley Police Detain Five After Hit and Run, Firearm Recovered

Around 11:30 am Thursday, Oakley Police responded to a report of a hit and run accident at W. Cypress Road and Lorenzetti Drive where five suspect attempted to flee the scene.

Oakley-PD-Nov-5-aAccording to police, a resident spotted three suspects coming from a home believing a crime had just been committed. He intervened by blocking the vehicle with his own where two other subjects waited.

In response, the suspects crashed into him causing another vehicle to be pushed onto the sidewalk and into a yard. The suspects then exited the vehicle and fled Chianti along the canal while hopping fences.

Oakley Police Sgt. Perata stated four of the suspects were taken into custody near Brown Road after they were hoping fences and running down the trail. A fifth subject was taken into custody on Lorenzetti with the firearm (a rifle) nearby. All five suspects involved were detained and identified and transported to the Oakley Police Department.

No further details were provided as the incident was still under investigation, however the suspects were 2-adults and 3-juveniles from Oakland and Pittsburg.
