Oakley: Homeless Start 5-Acre Vegetation Fire

by ECT

On Saturday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire that broke out near Main Street and Rose Avenue on the north side of the railroad tracks.

The incident was first reported at 2:42 pm and was located in the field next to the Ironhouse Sanitary District and East Bay Regional Park Land.

Thanks to fire breaks in the area, the fire was limited to only vegetation and did not threaten any homes, although it moved towards the properties along Warhol Way and Vella Cir. off Picasso Dr.

The fire was limited to around 5-acres, however, crews were on scene for nearly 7 hours.

To the city managers
You continue to approve self storage centers, how many more? Any plans for a supermarket in our side of the town, or community center, or new post office. You continue to run this city like a one horse town. Perhaps you should take a ride down Main Street, where you just approved another self storage center and notice the absences of supermarket, Costco, library or community center. You think after all the property taxes we pay, we can have some amenities.

Same with Antioch. The meat at the Lucky’s on Contra Loma they sell is not even fit for pets. Safeway has gone to grocery store heaven unless you shop in Lafayette and in general seems to have gone downhill since being sold to Albertson’s. No Whole Foods or any decent business will come out here because of the transient problem. Can’t blame them because no one will do anything except raise taxes. Transients cost too much money in theft, loss of shoppers, and security to keep away. Quality of life in east county sucks, transit suc, no decent jobs or economy sucks. Selling and getting out because City Government out here never gets anything good done for economy, beauty, bike and walk friendly. I don’t call those lame green things in the middle of the street in front of Concord BART bike friendly, well designed or anything else. County is bad joke, Immigrants, welcome to tbe sanctuary state. Hope you aren’t as disappointed as I am.

Ride down main?? Ha, it’s impossible to ride down Main Street since it’s backed up all day. How’s that 2 lane to 1 lane idiot bottle neck plan in both directions working out city planners? After all the money spent on that rehab and still didn’t get it right. We need bigger roads! Population here is not going to stop growing! We’re not Brentwood! Our downtown is a heavily traveled in and out of town route.

It’s gotten worse the past few years with all the big $$$ posers in their Teslas that like to act rich but couldn’t afford to buy in San Ramon/Danville/Walnut Creek/Pleasanton….etc.

Oh look my fellow poser wife who wears too much makeup, we can buy a new house here in Joakley and still continue our poser ways. We don’t really have to commute because soon Elon says our cars can drive themselves…yay yay.

Remember when people were talking that Oakley would be the next Walnut Creek? I still laugh when I think about that

These homeless encampments are a huge problem all over the County. Alot of them are near dry grasses, we will see more of these fires this year. These cities need to remove the encampments, between them shitting in buckets, leaving garbage everywhere and the risk of fires, enough is enough!

Look how much the homeless have cost the County just in fires and police calls, not to mention police, cleaning up their encampments and other services. They are a total drain on society. Even Walnut Creek us becoming overrun with transients now thanks to BART letting them fare evade everywhere to defecate and destroy. City has done bass in the 6 years I have been here. Can’t shop here. Streets of Brentwood ugly and boring and too much off a hassle to even drive there or anywhere else.

Amen! I pay 7K in property taxes for a small one story for this crap quality of life. Jerry Brown’s water rationing final straw for me and California. 50 gallons a day, I don’t think so.
