by ECT

The City of Oakley will host the 16th Annual Cityhood Celebration on Saturday, July 4th at the Freedom High School Basin located at the corner of O’Hara Park Ave and Neroly Rd. This year’s event commemorates both the anniversary of Oakley’s incorporation as a City in 1999 and our nation’s independence.

The celebration begins at 6:00 p.m. with free admission for all and a $5 wristband available for unlimited childrenʹs/teen activities. Children ages 5 and under can request a free wristband. Wristbands are also for pre‐purchase at City Hall now.

The children’s area will include a rock climbing wall, giant obstacle course, slides, bounce houses, a “mechanical shark”, glitter tattoos and more. A selection of food will be available ranging from barbeques, snow cones, ice cream, pizza, cotton candy, kettle corn, corn dogs and funnel cakes.

There will also be music throughout the evening, craft vendors, and local non‐profits as well. This year’s event will also feature a flag ceremony performed by Boy Scout Troop 152.

The evening will culminate with a firework extravaganza starting at approximately 9:30p.m.
