Oakley: Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Large Dumpster Fire on Machado Lane

At roughly 3:29 pm Tuesday, East Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a reported residential structure fire on Machado Lane in Oakley which sent a cloud of smoke into the air.

Upon arrival, Engine 93 located a dumpster on fire. They requested assistance from Engine 94 and cancelled all additional units.  The fire was out within minutes and crews remained on scene as a precaution.  No one was hurt in the blaze and its unclear how the fire started.

Editors Note:

  • Engine 93 was quickly one scene within minutes after performing fire mitigation and pre-fire planning around Oakley when they saw smoke in the air. They headed towards the smoke before reporting it to dispatch.
  • On May 12, this property also had a 2-acre vegetation fire which caused an estimated $50k in damage. Here is the story

The story is, there is a problem at that address. Someone’s a fire bug. Hope no one gets hurt before they catch em, if they catch em.
