by ECT

At 4:18 pm Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to several reports of black smoke coming from a home near Empire Ave and Laurel Road in the City of Oakley.

Smoke could be observed from both the City of Antioch and City of Brentwood while units were responding. Upon further investigation, Oakley Police located a backyard on fire in the 20 block of Bayberry Court where a propane tank, a BBQ and the overhang all was on fire.

Engine 53 and Engine 88 (Contra Costa Fire) arrived on scene and made a quick knockdown of the fire before the fire could extend into a home.

Firefighters are currently on scene investigating the incident. No injuries were reported in the fire.
