Oakley: Firefighters Limit Stove Top Fire to Kitchen Area

At 12:55 pm Sunday, East Contra Costa and Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 1800 block of Santa Fe Street in Oakley.

Engine 93 arrived on scene to find light smoke coming from the doorway of a two-story residential structure with all occupants outside the home.

Engine 88 of Antioch arrived on scene and began an interior fire attack and quickly extinguished a stove top grease fire that extended up into cabinets and the hood and duct system.

The fire caused damage to the stove top, cabinets, hood and duct system along with heat damage being limited to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the structure.

The cause of the fire was unattended grease being heated on the stove with damages estimated around $25,000. No injuries were reported.

During this incident, Engine 52 was committed to a medical emergency near the Los Vaqueros Reservoir. For about an hour, all three of the ECCFPD resources were not available as at 1:16 pm, there was a report of a boating accident out near Orwood Resource where it was reported 1 person unconscious and as many as 9-total patients by the Sheriffs

Office. Upon arrival to Orwood, firefighters did an assessment with AMR and there was no injuries.
