Oakley City Council Seeks Applications for ECCFPD Board

by ECT

The City of Oakley announced Wednesday that they are seeking applications from Oakley residents who would like to serve as the City’s representative on the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) Board.

The move comes after Councilman Doug Hardcastle will step down while Meghan Bell, who serves as the Board’s Vice President, declined re-appointment Tuesday. No reason was cited during the City Council meeting.

Two seats on the Board are now available.

The terms will commence when the Oakley City Council appoints the Board members and will expire in November 2018 when the Board moves from appointed members to an elected Board. Appointees serve at the will and pleasure of the City Council.

Applications are available on the City’s website at: http://www.ci.oakley.ca.us/ at City Hall, or may be requested via email at [email protected].

Completed applications must be submitted prior to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. All applications are public record. It is anticipated that appointments will be considered by the Oakley City Council on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 during the City Council meeting scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at 3231 Main Street, Oakley, California.

All applicants are encouraged to attend the May 23rd meeting to be interviewed.

The ECCFPD was established in 2002 with the consolidation of the Bethel Island, East Diablo and Oakley-Knightsen Fire Protection Districts. The ECCFPD serves the cities of Oakley and Brentwood, as well as the unincorporated areas of East County, including Bethel Island, Byron, Discovery Bay and Knightsen.

The ECCFPD Board currently meets regularly the first Monday of every month in Brentwood City Hall located at 150 City Park Way, Brentwood, CA 94513 beginning at 6:30 p.m.. Additional special meetings may be called by the Board at its discretion. Board members are required to provide the Oakley City Council quarterly updates. There is no compensation provided for Board members.
