The Oakley Police Department announced Monday that murder charges have been filed in a shooting that occurred on Carpenter Road in the city of Oakley.
The incident occurred on March 2 at 8:30 am when detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff served a search warrant at a house on the 1400 block of Carpenter Road in Oakley. The nature of the search warrant was in regards to weapons and illegal drugs.
The detectives discovered a deceased male inside the home and determined he had died as the result of gunshot wounds. The detectives detained two people, who they contacted in the home.
Those two people were later arrested, and charged, for the following charges:
- Billy Bruce Cole, 32, Oakley- First Degree Murder
- Anastashia Wilfong, 27, West Sacramento- Accessory After the Fact

On Wednesday at 9:00 am the Oakley Police Department responded to a Contra Costa County Sheriff Department search warrant in the City of Oakley.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on Carpenter Road near Brown Road where the sheriffs department served a search warrant for firearms and drugs. Upon entering the house, they located 1 deceased male from a gunshot wound along with another male who was injured and a female.
The male and female have been taken into custody, however, police did not say if they were under arrest or persons of interest.
It is also unclear of who was investigating the case, whether it be Oakley Police or the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office.
No other information has been released and the area has been blocked off.

According to Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office served a search warrant for an unrelated issue. Upon arrivial, the subject was cooperative when he told police about a dead body and said he was about to call police.
Beard said the death is suspicious and confirmed a gunshot wound of a male. The incident is now a joint investigation with the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Department and Oakley Police. Both the male and female were taken away in handcuffs for questioning and were being detained. No official arrests at this time.
This is the 1st homicide of the year for Oakley Police.
Oakley Police did take a statement from a neighbor that a person at the house was walking around outside with a firearm on Tuesday.
Police also said this case had no relationship to the Alexis Gabe case and that investigation is still on going with nothing new to report.

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
On March 2, 2022 at approximately 8:30 AM detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff served a search warrant at a house on the 1400 block of Carpenter Road in Oakley. The nature of the search warrant was in regards to weapons and illegal drugs.
The detectives contacted two people at the home, one of these persons was found to have sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. These two people were detained. The detectives were then alerted to another person, a male, in the house who had been shot prior to their arrival.
The detectives notified AMR medical services, the fire department and the Oakley Police Department of the situation. Ultimately this male was pronounced deceased at the scene and he is not being identified at this time. The Oakley Police Department has requested the Office of the Sheriff handle this investigation, and it is ongoing at this hour.
