Visit your community library for free and fun events and weekly challenges all summer long. Complete Summer Reading by July 30th to receive a free book and drawing entries for a chance to win amazing prizes. Full STEAM ahead into Summer Reading at all Contra Costa County Libraries!

The Oakley Library is kicking off summer reading on Thursday, June 2 at 6:30 PM with Math Science Nucleus! You’ll be electrified by this illuminating event! Enjoy interactive stories, followed by hands-on experiments in electron art, static electricity, and more!

Schools are out for the summer and the Oakley Library has the space to offer a great program lineup.

Join the Oakley Library every Tuesday from 3 to 4:30 PM for Tabletop Tuesdays. Games challenge us, entertain us, and bring us together to learn about strategy, words, math, and fair play. Discover new board games each week. Tabletop Tuesdays are geared toward school-age children, tweens, and teens, yet everyone is welcome!

Visit the library every Wednesday from 3 to 4:30 PM for Maker Camp, especially for school-age children, yet all ages welcome.  We will have new hands-on activities for building, tinkering, and exploring. We can’t release all of the details, but we will be doing everything from using polymer clay to building rockets.

For tweens and teens, the Oakley Library is excited to announce Teen Thursdays.  All summer long, tweens and teens (6th through 12th grade, as of fall 2016) are invited to the library on Thursdays from 3 to 4:30 PM. We promise each week will be fun, exciting, and new. Shhh…we’ll tell you a little secret: the 3D printer will be here June 9, June 16, July 7, and July 14 for you to design a project yourself.

Come play on the Minecraft Server every Friday from 3 to 4:30 PM. Work on projects, building, and have some fun playing Minecraft with others. You MUST register to be guaranteed a spot. Registration opens a week prior to each session.

Drop in every Saturday from 3 to 4:30 PM for our Lego Creators Club. Make anything you choose with our HUGE collection of bricks. New themes and challenges every Saturday.

As always, Infant and Toddler Storytime (6 months-3 years) will be on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM and Family Storytime on Thursdays at 6:30 PM.

For more information, visit ccclib.org or call 925-625-2400. The library is located on the Freedom High School campus at 1050 Neroly Road, Oakley.
