Ironhouse Sanitary District Receives District of Distinction Accreditation

by ECT

Ironhouse Sanitary District is proud to be re-accredited for the Special District Leadership Foundation’s (SDLF) District of Distinction. For Ironhouse, one of the most important measures of success is remaining diligent in being open and transparent to our community. It is one of the reasons the District takes the time and effort to apply for the SDLF’s District of Distinction accreditation and Transparency certificate every two years.

This year the District decided to go one step further in the program by completing the steps needed to become a “Platinum” District of Distinction. To receive this level of Distinction the District’s general manager and board of directors must attend a special three-day seminar and an additional 10 hours of programming.

“A lot of effort was provided on the part of the Board members to get this platinum level Distinction nomination,” said Chad Davisson. “That speaks highly on the commitment they have to this District.”

The District of Distinction accreditation is one of the most prestigious local government awards in the state of California. This award clearly validates Ironhouse’s commitment to good governance and to ethical and sound operating practices. One of the first requirements is to receive SDLF’s Transparency Certificate of Excellence, which Ironhouse received for the third consecutive time earlier this year.

For the Distinction of Distinction accreditation, the District met a list of requirements involving policies, procedures, continuing education and audit standards. This is the second time that Ironhouse has received this accreditation. The first time was in 2016.

“Everyone at the District has gone out of their way to take us to the top of our profession,” said Ironhouse Board President Chris Lauritzen. “It takes the dedication of all of the staff and Board to get us where we are at a platinum state. I applaud everyone for their efforts.”
