Ironhouse Sanitary District Earns Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

On Wednesday, the Ironhouse Sanitary District announced that the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the District.

The award was for the Districts comprehensive annual financial report for Fiscal Year ending on June 30, 2019. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

According to the District, the Board has adopted Purchasing and Procurement policies that conform to governmental accounting standards and make certain the best use of public funds.

The District has developed long term financial planning for sewer infrastructure and facility improvements. Board policies ensure public transparency and this Comprehensive Annual Financial Report provides our customers with a financial overview of Ironhouse Sanitary District

Board President Dawn Morrow was thrilled to learn of the news saying it reinforces the Districts goal of being not only transparent, but ensuring high standards.

“Our goal is to enable the ratepayers to have maximum understanding of the Districts financial activities and ensure we are working in their best interest while being fiscally responsible,” stated Morrow.
