Female Arrested for Arson in Oakley After Garage Set on Fire

At 1:46 pm Saturday, the Oakley Police Department and Contra Costa County Fire responded to a report of a house fire in the 4400 block of Macadamia Lane in the City of Oakley.

While responding, it was reported that a domestic was in progress and that a garage was on fire.

Upon arrival, the fire was quickly extinguished and two people were taken into custody at the home. The home was also dosed in gasoline with a strong odor coming from the garage area and inside the home. A contractor was on scene attempting to clear out the home and had a trailer full of items from inside the home when the incident began. There was also garbage bags and items on the side yard.

Fire crews were on scene for approximently an hour with the Contra Costa County Fire Investigator also responding.

By 3:00 pm, after sorting through video and other evidence, police determined a male who was detained was actually attempting to stop the female from further setting the home on fire. The female was arrested.

Meanwhile during the June Antioch City Council meeting, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Chief Lewis Broschard told the City Council they have made 17 arson arrests in Antioch alone.
