BBQ Explodes Catching Two Homes on Fire in Oakley

Just before 7:00 pm Saturday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to an exterior fire after a BBQ exploded catching a home on fire. The fire was reported in the 4800 block of Claret Ct in the City of Oakley.

While responding, Engine 53 reported black smoke from the home and upon arrival, said two homes were on fire and requested a 2-alarm response.

As of 7:09 pm, crews were working to prevent two other homes from catching fire.

By 7:14 pm, an exterior fire started at a third home, however, it was a small exterior fire that was quickly extinguished.

By 7:35 pm, it was being reported that there was “good knock down” on the fire.

By 7:41 pm, the fire was knocked down.
