On August 17, the community is invited to the Oakley Annual Kids Fishing Derby. The event is for children up to the age of 15 and registration is free. The event is a “catch and release” derby so children will be assisted to release the fish after they have been logged.
Registration and check-in begins at 8:00 am and the derby runs from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a complimentary lunch and awards. The event is held at the Antioch/Oakley Pier off Bridgehead Road.
Each child must have a registration form and the forms will be available at the Recreation Center, 1250 O’Hara Avenue and also at Hook, Line & Sinker (3100 Main St). Parents can also register their children at the pier on the day of the derby.
