16-Year-Old Shot Near Deer Valley High School Prompts Brief Lockdown

At approximately 2:25 pm Monday, Antioch Police Department responded to the area near Deer Valley High School in the City of Antioch on a report of a fight followed by gunshots. The incident prompted a brief lockdown of the high school.

According to preliminary information, police responded to a fight followed by gunshots with four males running towards Walmart. The shooting occurred on the trail east of Sagebrush and that after the shooting multiple people were running from the area.

A short time later, a 16-year-old male showed up at a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The school sent out a notification to parents highlighting the school was on lockdown due to police activity in the area and out of an abundance of caution, they placed the school on lockdown while confirming all students were safe.
