Since 8:30 am Wednesday morning, the Oakley Police Department has had Cypress Road and Mellowood blocked off while they continue their investigation from yesterday’s vehicle vs. pedestrian which left one victim airlifted to a nearby hospital. As of 1:00 pm, the road is still closed as police work the scene.
In an email asking about the investigation, Oakley Police Chief Bani Kollo responded that the information was posted on Facebook.
According to the City of Oakley Facebook Page, it simply states the following:
East Cypress is closed between Mellowood Dr & Waterford Way while Oakley Police resumes an accident investigation from yesterday. The roadway should be open early afternoon. Thank you for understanding.
Of course, knowing this investigation was going to take a majority of the day, City Staff could have been a bit more proactive in alerting the public this was going to occur in the early morning instead of around 12:00 pm.
Nate Anderson went to the scene to see what was going on and was told that they were recreating the accident using computers and taking additional measurements. He was given no timetable or update on the health of yesterdays victim.
