CONFIRE: Bay Point Vegetation Fire Burns 40 Acres

At 12:37 am Saturday, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire in the area of Solano Ave and Suisun Ave of Bay Point. The fire burned 40 acres of vegetation with no structures damaged. Firefighters had the fire under control by around 5:00 am.

According to Robert Marshall, CONFIRE Fire Marshall, the fire was 100 acres which mostly burned by the railroad tracks and near the Delta which made access difficult for crews in the marshland.

He also stated there was no injuries and the cause of the fire is yet unknown.

The smell of smoke was reported in cities from Bay Point all the way out to Discovery Bay.

As of 8:15 am, firefighters are still on scene.

Update – late Saturday morning, CONFIRE revised its estimated burn area from 100 acres to around 40 acres.
