Antioch: Firefighters Battling Vegetation Fire off Somersville Road

At 6:52 pm Saturday, Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire at Somersville Road at James Donlon in the City of Antioch.

By 6:57 pm, Engine 83 was on scene reporting 300 feet of fire line, most of it in a creek with no structures threatened. There was also slow spread and moderate slope.

STARR 3 was requested to assist with water drops. Antioch Police were also requested to shut down traffic in the area.

By 7:02 pm, the fire had grown to 2-acres and was under control.

Noticed they’ve already started moving back into Buchanan encampment. Two transients on Buchanan last Friday night when i was driving home were seriously out of it and dangerous. Glad I didn’t live in any houses by Buchanan and Railroad, that dude just looked like a zombie staring into space. Then you get up close to Harbor and there’s another one just as creepy looking.
