At 9:38 pm last night, a vehicle went through a fence and crashed into a home on Verona Ct. in Oakley. The wreck destroyed a portion of the fence and caused damage to the home while the incident broke a water on the house which caused a portion of the backyard to flood.

According to dispatch, there was no injuries in the incident, however, the driver was checked out on scene by emergency personnel as a precaution.  According to the victims brother, the driver was fine.

While its unknown what caused the accident to occur, the driver apparently lost control of the  vehicle coming off of Empire onto Holly Dr. and hopped the curb into the backyard. Luckily, the car missed a couple of large trees which may have resulted in a different outcome.  On scene, I ran into Mayor Kevin Romick who lives five or six houses away from the incident. He wanted to make sure everyone was okay.

The Oakley Police Department arrived quickly on scene followed by East Contra Costa Fire Protection District’s Engine 93 and AMR.

Update (10:36 am):
According to Oakley Police Chief Bani Kollo, drugs or alcohol are not suspected of playing a roll in the crash.
