Oakley Police Seek Help Locating Stolen Dog

On September 1, 2022 William Austin Smith, 26 of Oakley, was transported to a hospital in Walnut Creek for issues related to fentanyl usage.

On Sept. 6 at around 11:00 am, Smith was released from the hospital and he was captured on video promptly stealing a car, belonging to an elderly woman. The woman was at a Chevron gas station and she got out of her drivers seat for a few minutes when the theft occurred. Sadly the woman’s schnauzer dog “Maddie” was in the car when Smith stole it.

Oakley officers located the woman’s stolen vehicle in the Lowes parking lot off of Lone Tree Way in Antioch and took custody of Smith. Unfortunately Maddie was not found in the car with Smith and her whereabouts are unknown.

Oakley officers have searched two locations that Smith is known to frequent in an attempt to locate Maddie without success.

The Oakley Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating Maddie. Police distributed photos of Smith and Maddie. For reference the car Smith stole was a blue 2017 Hyundai Sonata, license 7WWP584. Again, that vehicle is now accounted for.

If anybody has any information please call the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060 or the Walnut Creek Police Department at 925-635-6400.

No other information was released.

Is Maddie okay? She doesn’t look so good in the photo. Maybe just hot. I hope that creep isn’t released again Soros D.A. Becton.
