Oakley youth Kayden McCarty, 7, recently held a hot chocolate, lemonade and snack stand last week to help raise money for the less fortunate this holiday season.

In total, he raised $323 which will help provide 7-people with care packages. Over the weekend, he went to the store to select items to give away which include blankets, beanies, gloves, socks and first aid items.

Kayden raised the funds through the stand as well as through PayPal and Venmo—people from across the US donated.

Sornia says her son learned a great lesson and they is hoping with this positive experience, that compassion follows throughout his entire life.

“He has a soft spot in his heart for the less fortunate, and this was completely his idea. I’m just grateful The community came together to support him, and that we can try and spread awareness about homelessness, and of course, love and compassion,” said Sornia.

The date of a second fundraiser has not yet been announced.
