The City of Oakley has made available engraved bricks for purchase to be a part of the Oakley Veterans Memorial. Bricks are $125 and a completed purchase form is due by January 30, 2015.
The City says its uncertain if this is the last time bricks will be made available since unveiling the Veterans Memorial on Veterans Day 2014.
The Memorial is located at the corner of Norcross Lane and Main Street, which had long been designated as the site for a memorial is now home to the newly dedicated memorial. The Memorial has five, red granite, squared columns that surround a blue granite base which supports the American Flag. Each of the representative columns bear the insignias of the five branches of the United States military; Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. At the head of the monument stands a white granite “Victory Eagle.”
