Oakley Union Elementary School District Trustee Lisa Brizendine Resigns

by ECT

In response to last nights meeting, Oakley Union Elementary School District Trustee Lisa Brizendine has resigned from her position immediately.

UPDATE – Entire School Board has resigned

The resignation was confirmed by the District just after 5:00 pm.  She has already been removed from the District website leaving the District with two open seats.

According to Superintendent Hetrick, should another board member resign, Ed Code 5094 provides that the County Board President would appoint members of the county board to the Board until new members are elected or appointed.

The move comes after Trustee Brizendine chimed in during the school board meeting not knowing it was open to the public, explaining how the public forget that they are real people on the other side of the letters and have kids or who have a vested interest in this or what happens behind the scenes because “they want their babysitters back” — referring to teachers babysitting students. (more on the meeting)

It’s unclear at what point Brizendine resigned, but earlier Thursday, the following statement was issued by Superintendent Greg Hetrick in response to comments made at the Board meeting Wednesday afternoon:

” Last night at the Oakley Union Elementary School District Regular Board Meeting there were unfortunate and truly inappropriate comments made that were heard by many.  These comments are not typical and more importantly they are not what the community should expect from our school district.  We all take pride in the Vision of the Oakley Union Elementary School District in that we are “A diverse learning community committed to educating and empowering today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders in a safe and inclusive environment.”

The comments made were not in alignment with our Vision and are definitely not what any of us stand for as leaders.  I know that we lost trust with the community.   I will not make excuses for what happened or why it happened.  I am the superintendent.  I am responsible and accountable and I am truly sorry for what took place.  I have been and continue to be committed to working together for the betterment of the Oakley Union Elementary School District students, staff and entire school community.

I know that our students deserve better from us.  I pledge to work collaboratively with stakeholders and community members to begin doing the important work that is needed to rebuild community trust in our district. ”

In response, many parents have began calling for the resignations of board members, they have started an online petition calling for the board to resign or be recalled.

The superintendent is the one orchestrating the conspiracy to violate the Brown Act in suppressing free speech.

Yeah- “not typical” of adults but absolutely expected from public-sector union rent-seekers.
I blame the ignorant, lazy voters who can’t be bothered to educate themselves about progressivism. Your kids are being brought up by these wastrels. “It takes a village” to make sure the next generation of Dem voters is indoctrinated.

Well, sorry that came to that. But, Cancel Culture is at it’s end. People are at thier wits end with hypocrisy and double standards. Time to bring back SINGLE standards and TOGETHERNESS. Good riddance to those that don’t commit to their choosen profression. Time to move on and bring back values and absolute standards.

Who would want their kids in classrooms with snarky teachers who are too dumb to know you never ever talk on an open mic when you don’t want world to hear. Very incompetent. If they think that there job is that of babysitter, then they don’t understand their position. It’s an HONOR to educate and influence another’s children. They don’t get that. Not funny. And how she wants to F a parent up. ALL resign including their boss. Leadership starts at the top

They are not teachers. They are elected School Board officials — all the more reason to be professionals, with or without mic.

I agree the woman sounds absolutely vile. However, I wouldn’t blame the teachers for this. She’s insulting them too by reducing their position to that of a babysitter.

To be clear those are not teachers. Are teachers have been doing all they can to get our kids back into a classroom .. please don’t bad mouth them.

What is wrong with people in fields where it involves kids!??? This was a “meeting”, a WORK MEETING. They act like they are hanging out at a poool with a cocktail in their hand just “shooting off gutter talk”!!??? C’mon, PLEASE TAKE YOUR SWEATPANTS OFF AND PUT A SUIT ON AND BEHAVE LIKE WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE! How hard and is that to much to ask to be DECENT PEOPLE!??? How dare you do what you did, and say what you said to all these hard working, vulnerable parents who are doing THEIR best in the most difficult times!! SHAME ON YOU ALL!!

Quick frankly, all trustees involved in that conversation should resign simply on the basis of stupidity if nothing else.

I am a teacher at a private, non-profit technical school. I have a 16 year old daughter who is doing online classes. My daughter spends much more time waiting for her next class to start than actually learning in a virtual classroom type setting. Often I hear the teachers say, “Okay, today is a work day” no more than 5 minutes into the class. I have spent much more time teaching online than I ever had in my 20 years previous to covid. I work very hard to make sure my students get through the difficult material. To all of us at my school, changing lives is what it’s all about. To see a student who struggled or who didn’t think they were smart enough graduate and walk across the stage (even virtually) often brings tears to my eyes. My school does not allow us to unionize. I can be fired today. I do it for the love of seeing people succeed and go on to typically make more money than I do. These teachers are pathetic and need to find a new job in something that doesn’t affect people’s futures.

“A diverse learning community committed to educating and empowering today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders in a safe and inclusive environment.”
You all must be brain dead.. “Diversity” is the exact opposite of “Inclusive”.

Stop this madness now.
Open America.

they think they are better than you…
