Oakley Union Elementary School District Superintendent Resigns

by ECT

According to an email by the Oakley Union Elementary School District, Superintendent Pam Conklin resigned from her position on Friday. The board has appointed Anne Allen as the interim Superintendent as they begin the search for a replacement.

Conklin joined the District July 1, 2015 after serving as the assistant superintendent for human resources at Novato Unified. Her base salary at the time of hire as $178,000.

No further information as provided.

Here is a copy of the statement sent out by the Board of Trustees to staff in an email at 6:43pm on Friday.

“Pam Conklin has resigned from her position as Superintendent and we wish her well in her future endeavors. We have decided to appoint Anne Allen as our Interim Superintendent while we begin our search for Pam’s replacement. Please know the District remains in very capable hands and will continue to operate smoothly. As a Board, we are incredibly grateful to have the support of such a professional staff and acknowledge that you are the reason students are so successful. We know these qualities keep our District moving in the right direction. We will keep you posted on the process for replacing Pam.

According to a source, the District last month quietly had Michele Gaudinier, Director of Personnel, take a “leave of absence immediately and will not return”.

There has been a lot of dysfunction at Oakley Unified for quite awhile. Between Dr Rogers and some other higher ranking management level personnel, things were not going well for some time now. Ms Conklin was getting some good reviews from the ranks but things were still not great. Michelle Gaudenier is a true professional and a long time well respected member of the Oakley Unified family so if there were issues with her, that may have been Conklin’s undoing.

The board needs to clean up from all of Dr Rogers dysfunction that he created and remove those people whose egos and personal drive is bigger than their commitment for creating an excellent nurturing educational experience for Oakley students.

Well said Jen! Strange things are afoot in Oakley… It’s time to question just what the board is doing and who is giving them one sided information. Oakley has lost amazing teachers and now administrators with heart. Where will it end? And at what cost to the children?

What was once an amazing group of special education teachers has been wiped out by the disruptive leadership of an assistant superintendent. Why the school board has not questioned the extreme turnover of special education teachers is beyond me, and why this individual continues to be allowed to wreck havoc makes me wonder if Dr. Rogers isn’t still calling the shots? There needs to be a serious housecleaning, from the top levels of administration down to several of the sites.
