On October 25 at around 10:20 pm, the Oakley Police Department and Contra Costa County Sheriff Deputies responded to Empire and Main St. for a reported armed robbery.

The suspect, a juvenile was located after a search in he neighborhood behind Lucky’s Shopping Center near Burgundy Dr. Gamay Dr, Sauterne Way areas. Several of our readers reported seeing four Oakley Police vehicles along with 3 Sheriffs vehicles as they blocked off roads to ensure the subject was surrounded–a helicopter was also called. Police searched several yards and our readers informed us police asked residents to stay in their homes.

According to Police Chief Bani Kollo,  the juvenile was located and identified by the victim, and then arrested. The suspect and victim know each other and the robbery was over a cell phone.

It appears there was a reported gun involved in the incident which was the reason for the number of officers responding. As it turns out, police recovered a toy gun.

No further details have been released.

The total lack of common sense by the majority of our youths continues to boggle my mind. Hey stupid, a toy gun CAN still get your butt shot, never mind that you committed a crime over a stupid cell phone.

What would’ve been great is if the victim handed over a TOY cell phone to the perp!!!

Before you start calling people idiots … lighten up Julio (or whomever you are since you don’t have the balls to give your full name) … I completely understand the seriousness of the matter.

Take a chill pill and go have yourself a serious bowel movement.

My comment in NO WAY advocates evil or illegal behavior.

YES … we have evil all around us, no matter where you go, it’s on PLANET EARTH.

Just lighten up a little would ya. LIFE would be SO much more enjoyable if more people (LIKE YOU) did.

I’d like to know who these PARENTS are that thinks it’s ok for their children to walk around with a gun that looks REAL! Kids might think it’s cool, but PARENTS should KNOW BETTER, and they should be held responsible for purchasing these items for their children!!!

Imagine if Antioch, Brentwood, and Oakley began a chain gang for these kids who create stupid crimes and waste resources. I remember my kid had Saturday School when they misbehaved at school they would have to come in for four hours on a Saturday and do homework or a project.

Maybe he local leaders should do a similar program except they are out on the street in pink shirts picking up trash or doing a community project.

YES! And I was one of the teachers covering Saturday School at Deer Valley High School!!! I believe they only got “time” if they committed “whatever” problem during school hours. If it’s after school hours or weekends, no “time served” on school campus. Must be school-related, I’m pretty sure.

I also covered Tuesday School (1 hour) and Thursday School (2 hours).

Let’s have the Saturday clean-up project apply to BOTH the kids commiting the bad behavior, AND their parents! Nice family outing where they clean up trash or do community service, while contemplating the child’s bad behavior and how to fix it.
